Show Lawyers Confer On Fair Policies Forerunner of what may be an appeal to Utah supreme court to determine extent of powers and authority of the state fair board to make contracts with concessionaires concession-aires and showmen operating on state fairgrounds, a conference between be-tween Atty. Gen. G rover A. Giles and private attorneys was concluded con-cluded Tuesday at state capitoL Referring to a recent ruling of Third district court which voided a five-year contract between the fair board and Beehffe Midways, Inc., private attorneys Informed state finance commissioners: "In view of Judge Clarence E. Baker's statement (In district court) that the main function of the fair board is to stimulate industrial in-dustrial and agricultural pursuits among the people of this state, we presume that the fair board will cease its related attempts to enter the entertainment field with public moneys." The letter waa signed by Attys. Lewis H. Callister, James Inbret-sen Inbret-sen and Beverly S. Clendenin, representing rep-resenting several Utah amusement concerns. Atty. J. Grant Iverson, representing repre-senting the midways company which appeared aa defendant in the district court suit, said he expected ex-pected the case would be appealed to- the state supreme court. |
