Show LEGISLATIVE GOSSIP. r- The committees la which the greatest Interest is centering are the Committees on Irrigation and Reservoir, Appropriations, Appropria-tions, Public Lands, Education and Arts and Railroads and Common Carriers. ' It Is rumored that D. R. Roberts of the Second district Is booked for a place on the Committee on Railroads and Common Carriers and also on the Committee Com-mittee on Irrigation and Reservoirs. ,- John J. Stewart of the Eighth district has been wanting the chairmanship of the Committee on Hallroads and Common Com-mon Carriers, it Is said, but from a rumor ru-mor that got out vlaat night ' he is doomed to disappointment for Barrett of . the Twentieth ' is ' being mentioned very favorably for that appointment ; It has been generally supposed that Mary G. Coulter of the Fourth district would' be appointed to the chairmanship chairman-ship of the Committee on Judiciary, but It is rumored that owing to the strong opposition members of the Salt Lake bar are making to her appointment on the grounds that it would not be well to appoint a woman to the chairmanship chairman-ship of such an important committee, she will probably, be given the chairmanship chair-manship of the Committee on Education and Arts, which was to have gone to Wlllard Done of the Eighth district - Speaker Hull wllf make no announcements announce-ments a to whom he will appoint on the various committees until tomorrow. - It is said thattfee law now on the statutes regulating vaccination will be attacked at this session of the Legislature Legisla-ture and that a bijl making it compulsory compul-sory for a child to 'be vaccinated before it be permitted to enter the public schools will be Introduced. . . |
