Saturday g same last, night The boys seem to have at last got the lid off the ginger, canister. They put up the snappiest snap-piest play seen at Cummin gs fleldthis year.; for two hours they were drilled . !n the; plays which will be used on Saturday Sat-urday and prospects look brighter than they have so far this season. . i The team members seem to realize that tbeyi are going- against a mighty strong aggregation when they meet Boulder, and feel that if they can win this game the rest of the" season is assured. as-sured. Indeed, if the team does win, it will show conclusively that Coach Maddock Is just the man for the place he occupies and will also show that he has done wonders in the short time he has been here. The Colorado team has been under the guidance of Fulsom, who is now head coach at Dartmouth, for a number of years, and this year has been , Instructed by Ellsworth, ex-captain of Chicago. Stagg, the well-known coach, has also helped out with their preliminary prelim-inary work. The Boulder team is a team of veterans, and the game, whatever what-ever else It is, will at least be hard fought The make-up of the TJof TJ. team ha not as yet 'been definitely decided on, but will probably be announced after Signal practice tonight. Bobbins, who has returned to the University, Is almost al-most sure of the place at center, and the supporters of the team will feel much cheered to have him In the center of the line. He has played against men who could handle him, but the beauty of his play is that he never weakens and his opponent has as much trouble after he has been hammered most of the game as at the klckoff. Barton, Flesh-man Flesh-man and Varley are the most prominent candidates for guard.' They are new men. They have shown up fairly well in practice, but will without doubt be the weakest part of the 'varsity line. Peterson Pe-terson and Hope will probably play tackle. Both are fairly good men. although al-though not particularly fast Davis and Russell are just about sure of the places at end and have both been doing fine work. Captain Jimmy Wade will, of course, play quarter, and the position is safe in his hands. Bennion Is also a fixture fix-ture at fullback, while there are many candidates for halfback. . Moor, Pitt, Milner, Forbes and Scranton will probably prob-ably all have a chance to play. At 11 o'clock today the University held a mass meeting and speeches calculated to arouse enthusiasm were made and the new yells practiced. The Boulder team will arrive in the city today .and will- have an opportunity to stretch themselves with a little signal practice after their journey on the car hi |
