Show STRIKERS LOSE OUT Eighty Men Quit Work at Ncwhousc Tunnel at Cactus Mine Eighty men at work on the Newhouse tunnel at the Cactus mine in Beaver county went out on strike Monday. An order was issued reducing; the wages of chuck tenders, muckers, single J acker and station tenders 25 cents a day. They were receiving from J2.75 to 23 a day. Thirty men were affected by the order, and all went out on strike. Fifty miners and drillers struck In sympathy with them. The demands of the men were refused and they were told the work on the tunnel tun-nel would be stopped. About eighteen of the strikers left Newhouse Tuesday night, coming to Salt Lake Wednesday morning. About ten went back to work at the reduced wages. The sympathetic miners and drillers lost out entirely, and It Is said most of them will leave the camp. |
