Show ART OF ADVERTISING ADVANCES STEADILY Great Merchants Realize That Proper Display of Business Requires Expert Talent. It Is more than probable that no line of industry in the United States has had such a popular and rapid growth in recent re-cent years as that of general advertising, which includes publicity In newspapers, and magazines, which through Its tre-i mendous force has revolutionized the entire en-tire basis of modern merchandising. The Chicago papers of the current week devote a good deal of space and time to the wonderful growth of the advertising business, as a whole, and to the firm of Lord & Thomas in particular, owing to the retirement of the senior member, M. D. Lord, who leaves active business life with a large competence. Mr. Thomas, who succeeds Mr. Lord as president, has really been at the head of the firm for a number of years, and is considered an authority in the great art of advertising. C. R. Irwin, the new vice-president, has been connected with the firm for twenty years. Associated with him and Mr. Thomas Is A. D. Lasker, the secretary and treasurer. It is a well established fact that a judicious ju-dicious use of advertising is the foundation founda-tion and support of business. Advertising Advertis-ing keeps a firm constantly before the public and therefore ' keeps up its reputation repu-tation as an enterprising and progressive business. |
