Show WILL STRIVE TO WIPE OUT DOCTRINAL LINES Various Branches of Presbytcrianism Are Seeking Means of Closer Union. CHICAGO, May 4. A unification of Presbj-terianlsm has been the general theme of discussion at the banquet of the Presbyterian Social union held at the Auditorium hotel. Nearly 400 laymen lay-men and many ministers were present. Dr. Robert F, Coyle of Denver, moderator modera-tor of the Presbyterian church north discussed "Presbyteriantsm and Unity," strongly advocating the wiping out of doctrinal lines in the Presbyterian church. The Rev. William Robeon Notman presided, and addresses" were made by the Rev. John H. Prugh of Pittsburg, moderator of the Reformed church in the United States; the Rev. P. Moer-dyke Moer-dyke of Chicago; the Rev. T. H. Mc-Michael Mc-Michael of Monmouth, 111.; the Rev. V. C. Wiley of Wilkinsburg. the Rev. C. E. Hemphill of Louisville, Ky.. and the Rev. J. R. Johns of Randolph, Wis. Announcement was made of a'confer-ence a'confer-ence to be held between representative of the Cumberland Presbyterian and Presbyterian churches at Buffalo this month, looking to a union of the two churches. |
