Show GRAND TO BE FIREPROOF Popular Theater Will Have ; Asbestos Curtain, and . Other Safety Devices. When, the Grand theater opens the season of ,1904-6. on September 15 the many patrons of the popular house will hardly be able to recognize It. It Will be as fireproof aslnodern skiU and Ingenuity can make & building. The electricians have been working six weeks putting in a new system of wiring wir-ing so surrounded by safety appliances that it will be Impossible for a fire to start from the wires. "An asbestos curtain cur-tain has been ordered and is now on the way. The proscenium arch has been rebuilt of fireproof iron iath and cement plaster, and three-inch stand-pipes stand-pipes have been erected on the stage and in the fly galleries, each having fifty fif-ty feet of hose attached. New border and side lights of the latest and safest pattern have been installed in-stalled and a slate stone switchboard has been put in, thus making tn outbreak out-break of fire at that point impossible. Every provision of the theater ordinance ordi-nance has been complied with, and Managers Jones and Hammtr feel that they have left nothing undone that will insure the safety of their patrons. The front of the building is being repainted, and the entire house will seem like new! Nettie De Coursey, a favorite actress here, will open the house in "The Orphan's Or-phan's Prayer," September 16. The play will remain three nights. Many excellent attractions have been booked. |
