Show lo ITw-zi!i Loudness irv Council 1 That pet scheme of "Judge" Fernstrom and other oth-er Councilman of his caliber to solve the water problem, prob-lem, by building a f73j000 storage reservoir in Parley's Par-ley's canyon should; be promptly sat on by the citizens citi-zens of Salt Lake. It is not surprising that such a plan should be conceived by Fernstrom et ah, for it is natural that two-ply municipal statesmen should ordinate two-ply ideas. But Salt Lake has had enough, of this cheap work. If it is not stopped the city will suffer through the ignorance of these nar row-minded, blundering Councilmen. The solution of the. water problem should be a permanent solution. No plan should be adopted and put in execution that does not provide for furnishing a water supply for a city of at least 150,000 population. When the v plan ia worked out and accepted by the people, then the proper procedure is to arrange for a bond issue. There must be no peanut business. These schemes concerning the construction of 75,000 reservoirs have no place in the plans to insure an adequate water supply for the Salt Lake of the future. The Fernstrom plan is one of the 10-ceut variety. It proves the soundness of the contention that1 the Council is not competent to properly handle the wft ter problem. And the enterprising citizens of Salt Lake purpose to see to it that this clique of out-of-date Councilmen does not spend the city's money in any such foolish solution of the water problem as Mr. Fernstrom advocates; It is the taxpayer who is to furnish the money for this Improvement and the truth is, nine-tenths of the property-owners do not feel safe in entrusting the expenditure of the immense sum of money necessary, to Insure an adequate ade-quate water supply, to the present city lawmakers. |
