Show jo ' " ' " Through a deal closed, yesterday afternoon af-ternoon a syndicate of Salt Lake and Eastern capitalists secured control of the hot springs north of the city, better bet-ter known as Beck's Hot ' Springs, together, to-gether, with fifteen acres of land. The title of the property passed from Beck to the Zion's Savings Bank & Trust Company several years ago and has remained in their possession ever-since. The new owners intend to. erect an immense im-mense sanitarium and hospital, which when completed will be one of the finest fin-est structures of its kind in the entire Vet. - The buildings will . cost not less than $200,000. which together with the price paid for the springs ' and land will mean an outlay of $27,5,000. Plana are already well under way for the main buildings. Work is to commence at the earliest possible date, and will be pushed with as much speed as possible. The springs form one of the most interesting in-teresting spots in the State... The water boils up from the base of an immense boulder at a temperature sufficient to boil an egg, and of a capacity larger than any other Bprings ' in . the State, , For many years in the early days of the city a small bathhouse and pool were located near the springs. Several years ago John Beck purchased pur-chased the property and erected a fine hotel and bathing pools there. For a number of yeara the springs enjoyed a f ood patronage. . Later they . passed rom the control of Beck. " A few yeara ago the buildings were almost ' entirely . destroyed by fire. Since that time nothing nas been done with them. The waters of the springs are especially beneficial in the caring of certain diseases. They are located three miles north of the Warm springs and are on the main lines of the Rio Grande, .Oregon Short Line and Salt Lake & Ogden railways. It is understood - that the present street car line to the Warm - springs will be extended to the other springs early in the year. '.. . |
