I., In an interview expressed a different opinion from that of other leaders of this race respecting President Roosevelt's dismissal dis-missal of the Negro soldiers fr the Brownsville affair. "I am personally acquainted with the President.'' said the bishop. "He is Im- fulslve. but his Impulses sre always on he side of justice and right. Therefore I cannot believe that color or the race question entered into his decision to have the colored troops discharged. I would not believe it unless he told, me so from his own Hps. "I deplore very much this seemingly Inflammatory statement which certain men of color, who ought to be more sober in their statements, have made in regard to the President. |
