Show LITTLE OF INTEREST IN LEAGUE MEETING CHICAGO, Dec. 12. The owners of the clubs of the American League will meet late today at the Auditorium for their annual meeting. Earlier in the day the directors of the league met at the office of President Johnson, where the pennant for the season sea-son was awarded to the Chicago team and $100 was awarded to President Comiskey for the purpose of purchasing an emblem of the championship. . No important perplexing questions are expected to come up. One subject that will be considered will be the shortening of the playing schedule and the extension of the championship cham-pionship series at the end of the regular season. Chief interest in the meeting centers in the trades and purchases oi players. The most important of these is the disposition dis-position to be made of Stahl, .former manager of the Washington club. Nearly Near-ly every club in the league is willing to take him but Boston and Detroit are apparently ap-parently most anxious' to secure his services. ser-vices. Another trade of - importance is that involving James Collins, late manager man-ager of the Boston team. A successor to Charles W. Somers, the vice president of the league, is . to be elected, as well as a new board of directors. di-rectors. i ...... |
