The combination of these two factors has made THE TELEGRAM the best paying advertising medium in Utah. v That TELEGRAM ADVERTISING PAYS BETTER than advertising published in any other local paper IS THE VERDICT OF SOME OF THE BIGGEST ADVERTISERS, ADVER-TISERS, NOT ONLY IN SALT LAKE, BUT INTHE EAST AS WELL. Three recent incidents may be dted to show just how THE TELEGRAM stands as an advertising medium in the eyes of the GREAT ADVERTISERS OF THE EAST L The National Cigar Stands company, the greatest tobacco concern in the world, which operates fifty stores in New YorK and the same number in Philadelphia, Philadel-phia, Chicago, Boston and St Louis, and stores in -every city of any size in the country, decided to place . its cigars on sale in Salt La He. There was SPIRITED RIVALRY BETWEEN. THE HERALD AND THE TELEGRAM FOR THE BIG ADVERTISING ADVER-TISING CONTRACT TO BE PLACED IN SALT LAKE. The Tribune secured one of the contracts, and. then the race for the other contract was between the Herald and THE TELEGRAM. MORE THAN TWENTY THOU-SAND THOU-SAND LINES OF SPACE WAS AT STAKE. AFTER A FULL INVESTIGATION OF THE FIELD, THE TOBACCO COMPANY AWARDED THE CONTRACT TO THE TELEGRAM. The rate charged bv THE TELE. GRAM was higher than that for which the Herald of. f ered to taKe the business BUT THE ADVERTISING EXPERTS DECIDED THAT THE TELEGRAM WAS THE BEST MEDIUM. ' This is the largest contract that has been placed in Salt LaKe by an Eastern advertiser in many a day. The National Tobacco company has also placed an- . other twenty thousand-line contract with THE TELEGRAM. TELE-GRAM. This was done after a rigid Investigation of the local newspaper field. IT PAID THE TELEGRAM A HIGHER RATE THAN THE HERALD GETS FOB FOREIGN FOR-EIGN ADVERTISING. . HERE'S ANOTHER CASE. Bondy 21 Lederer, the big Chicago firm, dedded some time ago to start an advertising campaign for its Tom Keene cigar in Salt LaKe. The Herald hastened after this contract. The figlt for this advertising -f waxed warm, and Bondy Lederer SENT A PERSON AL REPRESENTATIVE HERE TO GO OVER THE FIELD. A careful examination Was made and the result was that THE TELEGRAM WAS GIVEN ALL THE SALT LAKE ADVERTISING. This advertising was taKen by THE TELEGRAM at a higher rate than the Herald offered to ' accept it for. When the first advertisement was published in THE TELEGRAM, persons who called at the store for goods were questioned as to where they saw the advertisement for the merchandise they wished. "Iri THE TELEGRAM' was the reply in all cases. "I got more direct results from that advertisement in THE TELEGRAM than from any of the advertisements advertise-ments I have used in local papers for a long time." The Lyman D. Morse Co. of New YorK sent a man to Salt LaKe three weeKs ago to maKe a quiet investigation investi-gation of the field. One of the results of this Investigation Investi-gation is that THE TELEGRAM will receive shortly a big contract from an English v concern through &3 great Morse agency. .
