The observance of the day will begin practically at daybreak day-break and continue until nearly -midnight Many churches will have special spe-cial services, but the chief feature of the day will be the parade, followed by the decoration of graves In the cemeteries ceme-teries of Manhattan and Brooklyn and of the statues of Washington, Lafayette. Lafay-ette. Sherman, Farragut. Seward and Lincoln. ' - - - - - - . ' The grand marshal of the parade will be Col. George A. prew. ' The Old Guard,, with Gen. John T. Cutting In command, will be the especial espe-cial escort of Lieut-Gen.. ChaCee.. the reviewing officer. - Besides members 6t the Grand Army of the Republic, there will be In line. Under Col. L. C. Allen, a force of United Uni-ted States regulars, consisting of. two companies of the Twelfth Infantry, one of the Fourth Infantry and five of coast artillery, a force of marines, six companies com-panies of bluejackets and regiments of the National Guard. The line of march will be along Broadway to Eighty-sixth street to Riverside drive and to Ninety-second street, where the parade' will be dismissed. |
