Show I SNAP SHOTS AT HOME jNEWSi Gasoline Starts Fire. The fire department wm called to 123 South West Temple street last evening. The blaze was caused by a leaky gasoline gaso-line stove. But little damage was done. Man Grabs Woman. A hurry call for the patrol wagon was received at the police station at 11:3" last night. The call came from First North and Seventh Weat street. Uon the arrival of the wagon it was learned that while a Mrs. Evans and her sister were on their way home from town one of them was grabbed by a man who attempted at-tempted to carry her off. Her screams attracted attention and the man fled. No trace of him was found by the police. Narrow Escape. Matt Markre. a miner from Bingham, had a narrow escape from serious injury yesterday afternoon. The man attempted to board a fast moving car on Second South street near Main from the wrong side of the car. He was thrown aainsi a pole, receiving .a bad shaking up Dut no serious Injuries. Produce Wagon Runaway. A horse belonging: to the produce firm of J. Chrlstensen A- to. ran away yesterday yes-terday afternoon. The start was madei from opposite the Z. C. M. I. and continued con-tinued until stopped In front of the Atln block on Second South street. When the rig turned from Main to Second South two boxes of butter and two cases of egfrs were thrown out and scattered over th j street. Annual Outing. The machinists and boiler-makers of this city will have their annual outing at Lagoon La-goon tomorrow. A fine programme ha been arranged and a good time is promised prom-ised to all who attend. The programme will consist of foot races, baseball, tug of war and other sports. Prizes will bo awarded In each event. Dealers to Celebrate. At the regular meeting of the local hay and grain dealers, held yesterday afternoon, after-noon, it was decided to co-operate with the dealers of Ogden and hold an outing at lAgoon on June 27, instead of the 19th, as first suggested. A committee was appointed ap-pointed to arrange a programme and the hay and grain men promise that the day will be a hummer from start to finish. Real Estate Day. Thursday. June 2R. will be Real Estate day at Saltalr. The day promises to he the biggest of the year. Already the committee has secured a long list of prizes, which Is being added to every day. i Alleged Gambler Discharged. William Dooley, one of the men arrested ar-rested for gambling Wednesday, was discharged dis-charged yesterday afternoon by Judge Diehl. Dooley told the court that he was a miner, and that his home was in Nevada. Ne-vada. Upon the recommendation of Assistant As-sistant City Attorney Daly the man was discharged. Mission to England. A farewell entertainment in honor of Elder William A. Morton was given in the Forest Dale meeting-house lst evening. even-ing. F.lder Morton will leave shortly on a mVsion to England. Touring World. Messrs. Paul Becjcert and S. Redten-bacher. Redten-bacher. mechanical engineers from Austria, Aus-tria, are guests at the Knutsford hotel. They are making a tour of the world. To Investigate Sanity. George T. Brokaw. aged 27. was brought to police headquarters .yesterday mornlnjc and will be held pending an investigation into his sanity. Mr. Banks Going East. C. D. Banks will leave tomorrow on an extended business trip East. He will visit Cleveland, Philadelphia and New York, returning about July 15. |
