McCornick, Salt Lake's leading banker' and financier, when asked his opinion concerning the Canyon Can-yon Crest ranch enterprise, warmly declared de-clared that he considered it a most worthy cause; and the ladies who are so Industriously striving to make this child-saving Institution a self-support-Ir.g enterprise . are even more worthy of praise. Many other prominent cltlicns gave the grateful soliciting committee - surances of their warm sympathy and support, a number of them drawing their checks for substantial contributions contribu-tions In aid of the work that so forcibly for-cibly appeals to their Judgment and sympathy. Said Mr. George T. Odell: "The project is certainly a very worthy one." "I heartily indorse this effort to pro-' vide a home homeless boys," declared Mr. M. B. Whitney. Former Chief of Police Lynch said that his experience at the head of the city's police department had taught him the great necessity of a home for boys away from the haunts of temptation tempta-tion and crime, and declared that Canyon Can-yon Crest ranch Is a most meritorious institution, and one that should receive re-ceive the community's unqualified indorsement in-dorsement and earnest support. Mr. Elmer B. Jones, manager of the Independent Telephone company, expressed ex-pressed his warm Interest and sympathy sympa-thy in the following words: . "I most heartily Indorse this boys' firm project, and think It should have the generous support of the business men of 8alt Lake City." . The finance committee has decided to slightly alter Its plan of campaign. In order to give as many of the people of Salt Lake as may be practicable an opportunity to take a hand In financing" this popular public and altruistic enterprise. en-terprise. It has become apparent that there Is a disposition on the part of a numerous class of citizens to contribute contrib-ute small, sums $5 or $10 and it Is to offer these the desired opportunity that the committee has decided to enlarge Its plan of procedure. |
