Show DENIED THAT SMITH WAS OFFERED Of f ICE The report that fbrmer Judge Advocate Advo-cate Benner X. Smith of the National Guard of Utah has been, tendered the office of Adjutant-General of - the Guard was denied in official circles this morning. Gov. Cutler was not at his office, being be-ing absent on official business. A friend of the Governor, however, made the following statement to a representative represent-ative of THE TELEGRAM: "I do not know what may have taken place this morning, but I am perfectly sue that the appointment of Adjutant-General Adjutant-General of the Guards has not been offered of-fered to Mr. Smith, unless It has been done this morning. I am of the opinion, opin-ion, however, that the name of Mr. Smith, as well as that of MaJ. Richard W. Young and perhaps one or two others, oth-ers, has been under consideration ' by the Governor, but I doubt if he has taken any final action in the matter yet." |
