Show ARSON CHARGE IS DISMISSED Culmination of Another Chapter in the Norton Family Troubles. Another chapter was added to the domestic do-mestic troubles of Daniel H. Morton and his wife, Mrs. MaryE. Morton, In Judge Armstrong's court this morning when the charge of arson lodged against Mrs. Morton was dismissed on the motion mo-tion of District Attorney Loofbourow on the ground that the evidence was insufficient. in-sufficient. The tro.ublt-8 Of the couple have been the source of numerous court Inquiries. The trouble commenced over a year ago when Mrs. Morton filed a suit for divorce against her husband. Then she was arrested on a charge of arson. It was alleged that she had started a Are that had burned a barn and haystcks on Morton's place near Union. ' 1 Then Morton filed a sensational answer an-swer to the divorce suit charging his wife with attempting to poison him by placing a drug in the well and also setting set-ting fire to the barn. Then Mrs. Morton caused an examination to be. had of Morton's sanity. Several suits were started to get possession of the property. prop-erty. One of the suits was decided several sev-eral months ago by Judge Morse. . The divorce suit Is still pending. The reason given for the dismissal of the criminal action was that as Mrs. Morton was a half owner in the property, proper-ty, she could not be prosecuted. |
