Show AT WORK ON: NEW LINE TO 'FRISCO Chief Engineer Bogue Creates Six Divisions; Pushing Construction. (Special to The Telegram.) SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 28. Work of building the new Western Pacific road between here and Salt Lake has been divided by Vice-President and Chief Engineer Virgil C. Bogue Into six divisions, divi-sions, each to .be under the su- pervision of an engineer who will report to Mr. Bogue. The Pacific Coaft Construction Con-struction company of Portland and the Utah Construction company of Utah have been given the contracts for the grading work. The former will do the work between San Francisco and Oro-ville, Oro-ville, calling for J2.300.000. and the Utah company has the remainder of the work, which will amount to about $10.-300,000. $10.-300,000. The latter firm has some of the heaviest work in the Sierra Nevada mountains, it being necessary to build three tunnels, each a mile long. J. G. Jacobs has retired as general manager of the Salt Lake & Mercur road, to take charge of a sub-contract with the Utah Construction company. F. E. Baxter resigned as division engineer en-gineer of the Denver & Rio Grande and will take charge of construction .work for Deal Bros. & Mendenhall of Spiing-vllle. Williams, headquarters, Oakland; Sacramento division, Sacramento Sacra-mento to Oroville, John T. Williams In temporary charge as far as the Yuba river: North Fork division, Oroville to Spanish Creek. Emery Oliver, bead-quarters bead-quarters Oroville. and also In temporary charge from the Yuba river to Oroville; Sierra division, Spanish Creek to Deep Hole, New, James Q. Jamleson; Humboldt Hum-boldt division. Deep Hole to Elko, Nev., Charles Harlowe, headquarters Wlnne-mucea, Wlnne-mucea, .Nev.; Salt Lake division. Elko to Salt Lake, T. J. Wyche, headquarters headquar-ters Salt Lake. In addition, Mr. Bogue has Felected H. M. McCartney as his principal assistant, as-sistant, with offices here. J. C. Haveley has been made chief clerk of the engineering en-gineering and construction department, while J. B. Wallace is appointed engineer engi-neer of right of way, with headquarters here, the same as the two former. |
