Show AGREE ON THEJIME Russia and Japan Set August fur the Peace Conference. ST. PETERSBURG, June 26. Both Japan and Russia are now understood to have agreed on the time when their plenipotentiaries shall meet' in Washington. Wash-ington. It will be during the Jlrst ten days of August, but the exact date probably will be announced by President Presi-dent Roosevelt. The question of precedence evidently is the main stumbling block to a prompt settlement of the number of personal negotiators. Both sides seem desirous to make the other take the initiative. Russia seems to consider that it is Japan's duty to name her plenlpotentaries before Russia announces an-nounces hers. The question of a possible armistice as stated last week remains In abeyance abey-ance for the moment. |
