Show WILL CHOKE STATEHOOD Committee Not Bring the Bill Up During This Session. - . WASHINGTON, Feb. 10. The expressed ex-pressed opinion of ' Republican leaders of the House today Indicates that the result of the caucus to be held this afternoon af-ternoon on the Statehood Question will be a strict adherence to the caucus action ac-tion of the party April 13 last on -the same question. ' This action took the form of a resolution reso-lution that two States should be made of the four Territories. With this resolution reso-lution repealed the disposition of the Statehood bill will be a simple matter. It has, under the rules of the House, been referred to the Committee on Territories. Ter-ritories. There is nothing to indicate that this romniittee will bring the bill into the House at the present session of Congress. The advocates of the bill in its present pres-ent form-claim to have forty-five Republican Re-publican members of the House who will vote with the Democrats to concur. This is three times the number required. |
