Logan is an enterprising town, and when the "drummers," the - : most enterprising of all persons, are her guests she does herself ' proud. , The "drummers" are haTing a "high old time" in Logan to-' daj. : ' . . ; ' ' ' . - (Special to The Telegram.) LOGAN, Utah. June 9. It is a case of "We Won"t Be Home Until Sunday" with every one here. The day 'dawned j bright and fair and the town Is en fete for the two thousand and odd visiting commercial travelers. ' All day long trains have been pouring In tbelr quota of people. The "men of the gTip" are the lions of the hour. The town is still I here, but - the - proprietory title has i passed to the drummers. Open House All Day. . '-. It is a case of open bouse all day and open night all night, for who la there that will think of sleep while the traveling trav-eling men are oar guests? 1 Tomorrow is really the ''big", day. but today there -will -also be much doing. There will be horse racing this afternoon after-noon and a horse parade and band concert con-cert in the Tabernacle and three dance receptloos In the evening. These balls will be given, one at the B. T. academy, One at Thatcher's pavilion and at the Palace dance halL Town Is Decorated. Every residences and business house in town is ablase with vari-colored bunting and decorations of a radiant hue. There are flags innumerable. TThere are arches of welcome. The whole town is host to the visitors and their friends. r ' ' Every one now has a "roof over his head. Every, door has been thrown open. All formalities are waived. There is nothing but bon bomle on all sides. Everybody knows everybody else. It they don't they will before nightfall. , The big parade tomorrow will have , . . . ' - ' - . j floats and all the rest that goes to make up a great pageant. It wUl look like New Orleans at MardI Gras time. Parade for Saturday. After the great parade tomorrow the , oratory will be turned loose, and eloquence elo-quence will flow like good fellowship emanates from the, drummers, themselves. them-selves. All the fraternal organizations are lending every effort In their power to render any and all manner of hospitality. hos-pitality. . . . ' The great game of ball between the "C. C. C." and the "U. C. T." teams In scheduled tomorrow afternoon, and it promises to be a world-beater, as far ti ' ' fun goes, y J . The town is crowded as never "bef ore. " ' Business is at standstill. - Each commercial com-mercial man Is armed with . a paper horn that for noise and force Is as good as a Japanese cannon. ' Everything for Visitors. . With bunting and banners and flags and streamers and horns and everybody in holiday dress, the town is In festive and regal aspect. There are stands here where one may buy anything from a glass of pink lemonade to a bottle of "wine," and all for t-e-n cents; one dime. It is like county fair time, only more so, being- greater and more magnified. But every one Is out for a good time, and they are having "the time of their lives." . . Logan Is today a city of great size. The town has extended a right royal welcome to the commercial men. The weather has .been all that is desired. From now on until church time Sunday It wUl be one continuous round of pleasure. " |
