HERCULES WORKS Y ; AT 'FRISCO BURRED SAN FRANCISCO. AUg.14.-The Her-cules Her-cules Gas Engine works at 15-131 Bay street were burned yesterday, and the loss entailed is between Jl 60,000 and $200,b00, a greater part of which is covered by insurance.. Flames broke out in the pattern room. The theory of one ,of the employes of the engine works Is that the fire ' was caused through spontaneous combustion or through a defective electrio wiring. Five new engines, worth about $10,000 apiece, and which had Just been successfully success-fully tested the day before, were completely com-pletely destroyed. Many other machines, even more costly, were rduced to scrap iron. .
