Show ONE "TOSS" TOO, MUCH Private in the National Guard. Is Probably Fatally Fa-tally Injured. PORTLAND, July 24.-Louis Spanngler, a private In company A, Oregon Natfenal Guard, of Baker City, was so severely injured while being "tossed" late yester-' day at the company camp, near the Lewis and dark fair grounds, that he will prob, ably die. - One of his comrades who was holding the blanket accidentally- let go and Spanngler's weight was sufficient. so to depress, the blanket that .he hit t the ground. His head struck a root projecting project-ing from the ground, and he sustained what Is believed to be a fatal injury to the .base of the brain. I'd to a late hour he had not regained consciousness. The company is still on its way home from the regimental encampment at Seaside, Sea-side, and had secured permission to remain re-main over in Portland a few days after the other companies had departed in order or-der to see the exposition. |
