Show CARTER AT OYSTER BAY Governor of Hawaii. Has Been flying Some Trouble. OYSTER BAY, July 24. Gov. Carter of Hawaii was a caller on President Roosevelt today. He came to the United Unit-ed States for the express purpose of presenting to the President a statement of the difficulties he has encountered as Governor of Hawaii. -Since his appointment appoint-ment to succeed Gov. Sanford B. Dole, Gov. Carter has had trouble with both the citizens and the officials of the Territory. Ter-ritory. Gov. Carter's desire is not so much to resign his official duties as to obtain from the President assurances that his administration shall have the support of the national Government. |
