Behind this is a fast-fading story of romance, a romance of millions. It is a story of the love of a woman suddenly raised to the power of millions through the death of her famous husband, and who conferred her hand and fortune upon ah erstwhile bellboy In a hotel. The story began in Salt Lake years ago, when Allen G. Campbell, a millionaire, million-aire, married Mrs. Young, a widow. BBBSBBBSISSBBSa Campbell was a capitalist and. like King Midas, everything he took hold of , turned to gold. Mr. Campbell's interests were not centered In Salt Lake alone, however. ' The aged capitalist had many Interests In California. One day at California's Mission hotel Mrs. Campbell met young O'Kelly. He was a most humble employee em-ployee of the famous resort. He had for long, occupied the bench that is reserved exclusively for "bellhops." How he met Mrs. Campbell Is not of moment. Whether It was In carrying a Jug of water to her apartments or by aiding in the carrying of some of her luggage is also of no moment. Suffice It to say that the acquaintance so formed by the waiving of all formalities and social caste and difference in station .soon ripened into something more than mere exchange of greeting. O'Kelly was ambitious and hardworking. hard-working. He was studious. He elevated himself and rose gradually until he was . . . chief clerk of the hotel. Then he, be- -came assistant manager. Then Mr. Campbell died. Mrs. Campbell Camp-bell was disconsolate for a long time. Time heats all hurts. Including the punctures of the heart, however.
