Death Claims Widely Known irrigationist William Daniel Urlnvvton, 61 yeara of age. an officer of the Baldwin Radio company, active In mining; circles cir-cles and one of the beat known fig-urea fig-urea In development of agricultural lands and Irrigation projects of Salt Laka valley, died at 6:80 p. m. Saturday Satur-day at' the L. D. P. hospital. He underwent an operation Friday morning morn-ing for ulcers of tha stomach which had become so severe that cancer threatened and ultimate destruction of the stomach walla. Death was directly di-rectly due, however, to embolus, or blood clot, according to attending phyalcians. Mr. Livings ton waa bom March tl, 1871. In thla city, hla parents being William and LJVHas Livingston, who wars natives of Scotland and cams to America In 1850. They' mads their way across the plains in 1854, settling In Salt Lake valley, where the father engaged tn farming. Later hs turned his attention to" the lumber bualneas and for a time operated a sawmill In S&npets county. he decedent waa a pupil in the public schools of Halt Lake and afterward after-ward attended tha Brighain Young academy at Trovo. He later took up the study of law at Mantl and was admitted to the bar In 1898. He devoted de-voted twelve yeara to tha auoceasful practice of law and then turned hta attention to mining and Irrigated lands. He built the Price Ri-er Irrigation Irri-gation system, also other In Sanpete and MtMard counties, thus contributing contribut-ing greatly to the development and prosperity of three different countlea. In mining he operated at West Tln-tlc. Tln-tlc. Nevada and t Deseret. having lead, copper, sliver and gold properties. He was a director and president of the Midland Canal company, the Abraham Irrigation company, president presi-dent and secretary of the Deaeret Mining company, secretary yf the Cold Springe, Nev.. Mining company and also was Intereated in other con-cerna con-cerna which proved dominant elements In the upbuilding of the state. He waa counselor to !Uhop J. Frank Qulat of the Holllday ward, L. D. S. church, where the family haa resided for the pam seven or eight years. On attaining hla majorlry. Mr. Livingston Liv-ingston bocams a aupporter of the Republican party, waa an organiser of Ihe old Progreasfve party and chairman chair-man of the atate executive committee. He served ss county attorney of Sanpete San-pete county for two terms snd ss st-torney st-torney of the Seventh district of fish.
