Show CITY COUNCIL HAS INTERESTING MEET Miscellaneous bills and payroll amounting to $1350 08 were approved ap-proved for payment at the Wed- : nesday evening meeting of the ! city council. Bids are now being advertised J for furnishing and installing of a heating system at the Civic j Center. Bids to be accepted by City Recorder Eugene Morris at j his office in the city hall Mayor Dale Johnston reported i that Bingham is still leading in the state accident prevention contest con-test being sponsored by Utah Safety Council. Council members authorized a letter to be written by Mayor Johnston to Gus P. Backman for a contribution from the Centennial commission for 1947 Galena days celebration. The state has appropriated $500,-000 $500,-000 for distribution among cities and towns to assist them in putting put-ting on their celebrations during the Centennial year. Mayor Johnston John-ston also sent three telegrams to various officials of the American Ameri-can Mining congress now meeting meet-ing in Denver, urging them to hold their 1947 convention in Salt Lake City at the same time "of our Galena days celebration. George Addy, Charles Brim-hall, Brim-hall, J- Dewey Knudsen of American Am-erican Legion; John Bolic and Charles Zahos of V.F.W.; and Ray D. Carl and Harold W. Nielsen Niel-sen of Junior Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, met Wednesday evening with the city council in regards to a new lease on the Civic Center. Cen-ter. A committee from V.F.W and American Legion met Thursday Thurs-day evening with a group composed com-posed of John Holmes, Clair T,,l,r,,i Pnl, Tim-,c ITU!, ,11 w Evans and Mayor Johnston, to draw up a new long term lease suitable to the V.F.W., American Legion and city council. |
