V Vernon Smith He received his education In priVate Vate schools and the University of Utah Early in his lifo he was elated with the building of the Salt Like Western railway from Ironton to Eureka In 1896 h the Holden Mining company at Bingham remaining as chief engineer en- en with the United States Smelt Smelting ing Refining and Mining company when that concern absorbed the hoden ho- ho den company From 1901 to 1917 he was water commissioner commissioner- In charge of water from canals entering Lake valley from the Jordan river He was also long associated with the L.
