L Resident Opines Editor Telegram I have been reading a number of letters in inthe inthe inthe the Voice of the People lambasting lambasting lambasting ing the legislature for changing the welfare laws and making it necessary for people to give a lien lieu on their homes in r return turn for relief payments I have also read some criticisms criticisms criticisms that the payment payments to o these people are not enough What do these people expect anyway I think a lot of the old age pensioners would be dissatisfied dissatisfied dissatisfied fied regardless of the amount they received Give them the world with a gold fence around it and they would want more For the life of me I cant can't cantsee cantsee cantsee see what all of the fuss is about We take care of these people as alii taxpayers and are paying an rate to try to keep them happy but without suc suc- cess The rates that we pay for old age assistance are arc far greater than we would pay if the state maintained a poor farm for these people where they could be placed an ana ana cared for properly It is about time we brought to toan toan toan an end the philosophy of always giving people something for nothing For my money the legi legislature legislature leg leg- i lature did exactly right and I hope other legislatures see fit to eliminate this needles expense to the taxpayers George Adams Salt Lake |
