It will feature a championship ro-i ro-i deo, running races, a horse show j and horse-pulling contest. In this instance that statement is no idle chatter, for an improvement improve-ment program involving $40,000 has really made everything big-ger big-ger and better- In addition to annual cleaning and renovations, the fair has built two new horse and cattle barns equipued with 84 stalls 12 x 12 feet, and ultra modern in conveniences; it has installed 4500 additional bleacher bleach-er and grand stand seats at the race track, increasing capacity by nearly 400 per cent; it has added three new parking areas to accomodate 1,000 cars, an increase in-crease of more than 250 per cent; entrance from State street to the race track has been doubled in width, graded, sanded and oiled; as has the race track motor entrance en-trance from Murray City park; the fair showing has been extended ex-tended from four days to five days; there will be three flower shows instead of two; many small conveniences have been installed, install-ed, and an entire new and mod- j ern rodeo plant has been built. I For the first time this year, the i Fair board will present a profes- j sional rodeo, complete in every i detail, and recognized bv the In- ternational Rodeo association as j a . championship event, with points won at Murray counting for the world's championship for 194(3. Contracting to produce the rodeo is Earl Hutchinson, outstanding out-standing producer of rodeos in Utah and the intermountain west j with one of the most sensational j string of vicious Brahmas, roping rop-ing calves, bulldogging steers, j and the meanest bucking horses in the west to pit their skill a-gainst a-gainst that of the cowboys. There are laughs as well as thrills, however, how-ever, with Benny Bender, nationally na-tionally famous rodeo cowboy clown, Carol Henry and her high school horse "Sweetheart"; Frank and Bernice Dean, trick ropers and the nation's outstanding bull whip experts, with round and Jovial Jack Oakey as master of ceremonies. In the four days of rodeo a full program of races will be given in addition to the 2-hour rodeo show. More than 7,000 persons attended attend-ed the lacing programs in 1945, and this year the rodeo and races will be given at one admission price. When the rodeo closes Friday, Fri-day, the Saturday race track feature will be a western Horse show, at which a horse and saddle sad-dle will be given away, and the regular running horse races.
