I lieve e in honesty therefore I can i be bc trusted I believe in human 4 brotherhood therefore I probably N r 1 1 J ff f 4 ably will be he kind If a persons person's beliefs are known his actions can be foretold with fair ac ac- curacy Every human being civilized c T or savage is guided in his actions by a set of beliefs They ma may not t j i always be expressed in words but they exist securely in the depths of consciousness Only the insane are without such guiding guiding guid guid- ing beliefs A persons person's impelling beliefs are sometimes called his l life Ce of philosophy for they explain life to him and determine the actions of his life In a larger sense such beliefs which con control t r 0 I a aman's amans n mans man's actions and thereby his r Y happiness in life are more than a philosophy Religion is a better name for the concern of religion is to induce man to seek all truth and to put truth into action It is a proper name whenever whenever when when- ever belief in God is a part of the life liCe ph philosophy From this point of view every sane sanc man has a religion and is religious The man who says he has no religion probably fools I himself Religion in this large sense the sense the beliefs that determine human action action is is the most important thing in the world and should be bethe bethe bethe the concern of oC all intelligent people Consider its importance It has determined the course of history it has brought success or failure to individuals it has led multitudes to happiness or distress According to national beliefs there has been been war or peace men have ha l lived ved i in safety or have been burned at the stake light or darkness has rested upon the world The story of the world is in the maYn man main the story of its I r religious beliefs The late great war was provoked by warlike ideals I It is useless to declaim against religion Every cry man has it I It will outline every man and weather ever every storm The question is only with respect to the kind that will bring prosperity to individuals indi indi- and nations The future of the world depends more upon religion than upon anything else |
