Christmas Season Is Officially Here Downtown Salt SaIt Lake City was crowded crowd crowd- ed Friday night for the annual official opening of the Christmas season and the turning on of the lights which have long made this city famous as a Christmas Fairyland Crowds thronging the stores before and after the ceremony proved that the shopping season also is i getting under way with a rush Saturday children by the thousands cheered and thrilled as Santa Claus Glaus arrived arrived arrived ar ar- ar- ar rived with all the fanfare such a famous and beloved visitor might be expected to receive The parade was excellent with plenty of music and color and festivity The Junior Chamber of Commerce and all those who helped in staging the event are areto areto areto to be commended for their efforts The junior chamber and the city's merchants who finance the project are areto areto areto to be commended also on the 1950 Christmas Christmas Christmas Christ Christ- mas lighting display It is an annual Christmas show for all residents of this city and vicinity Those who did not turn out for the official inauguration of the lighting display Friday night ought to be sure to come downtown some evening evening evening eve eve- ning before the holidays to see the lights So the Christmas season is officially here with its lights its crowded streets and stores its festivity and color May it be a happy time for all of us
