R Colonel Sowers studied law and In I 1859 was admitted to the bar by the supreme court of of Ohio He practised law with William Day later of the United d States supreme court and now I I of ot the German claims commission I and also was associated with the late President William McKInley He and Mr Day enlisted together April 19 10 1861 at the first call for tor troops Issued by President Lincoln in the infantry Colonel Sowers was promoted from private to first lieutenant in F company company com corn pany Fourth Ohio volunteer infantry His Ills captain was Captain Janus Wallace Wallace Wallace Wal Wal- lace a West Point graduate who was killed at Fredericksburg Fredericksburg- All the members of F.
