G OSBORNE To the young fr fry the glittering glittering glittering glitter glitter- ing ornaments on ont Christmas trees are a great temptation They seem to call for touching rubbing and squeezing And yet most of us ups grown-ups dont like to have the youngsters messing messing messing mess ing around the tree One way of meeting the problem problem problem lem is to arrange to give the children their fill of exploring these delightful things Under supervision and before the tree is decorated they can turn on and turn off the Christmas tree lights rub fingers over the shiny smoothness of the deco deco- native balls and play with the angels that go high on the tree A chance to make some simple ornaments from pieces of tinsel and colored paper also the decorations are on the tree will make them Veel teel feel that t once nce they shouldn't be pulled and hauled around If this sort of opportunity is overlooked and the ornaments are hung without children having having having hav hav- ing had a chance to feel them one can lift them so that they can enjoy the sensations that come from touching things that youre you're not supposed to Satisfactions coming from these approaches to pre feel ing ingot are good insurance against later damage to the decorations |
