L Dow superintendent highway patro pa pa- tro 1 The station is located on State street in front of the Murray City park about South and will serve as a guinea pig If It the re reaction reaction reaction re- re action of or the public is favorable and proves to be a success more of these stations will be installed in n the principal cities clUes of ot the state Ray H H. chairman of the state Mate road commission declared Purpose of these stations arc are two fold Supt Dow said First First First- to o give the public a free c check of their heir lights and brakes so that they can then get them fixed if defective Second to check on defective e vehicles and g give i v e the highway patrol a chance to follow up after the owner has an opportunity opportunity to get the defects repaired Supt Dow explained Any motorist who voluntarily has bas ms his vehicle checked will not be issued a citation if defects are arc found but will be given the chance to o have them repaired However 1 If the patrolmen have to o pull the vehicles off oft the road for or the inspection the operators will be issued a citation Supt Dow warned The equipment includes a light meter neter which registers the candlepower candlepower candle- candle power ower of the headlights and their alignment The minimum amount of ot candlepower allowed by law is for each headlight while the alignment can be a few degrees low ow or to the right thc they p should not go up or too much It to the left eft Another r item is the brake testIng testing test test- Ing ng device which tests the pressure o of each individual wheel as the brakes are applied and will show up any defects found round in them Another Another Another An An- other feature of this Is a chart which shows In tenths of ot seconds just how quickly and with what pressure the individual brakes hold lold These small charts will be presented to the operators
