OCR Text i A Problem of Too Many Eggs R REPORTS 1 from Wa Washington h have it that officials are worried about a prospective record record breaking breaking egg surplus after the first of the year They say the surplus is expected to be some four times as big as last springs spring's excess supply of eggs The surplus surplus hold hold y your ur breath breath is is est estimated at dozen eggs enough to give every man woman and child in the Uni United d States about four and a half dozen extra eggs What to do with the extra eggs is the problem Storage facilities are already overcrowded The surplus cant can't be dried it is said because the United States already has pounds of dried eggs on hand Last year a lot of the surplus eggs were fed to livestock or lost through spoilage The chances are excellent the same thing will happen this year unless in some fashion the people of America can be persuaded to cat eat more eggs But persuading more Americans to eat more eggs at five cents or better per egg is quite a tri trick k Has anybody given any ny thought to solving the problem by getting t the e price down to the point where the average American could afford an egg for breakfast e every ery morning If government officials want to get those surplus eggs eaten up by the American people they had better etter get the price of eggs down from 66 6 cents a dozen Its It's wise to pick your friends friends but but not to pieces h i
