Show The Opening -of The San Diego Exposition On December 31st San Diego will open tho first all-year oxposltlon in history. Tho celebration will start at sunset, whon tho completed exposition expos-ition will bo opened to tho public. Tho ceremonies of tho early evening will tnko place on tho Isthmus, whero tho concessionaries arc. planning special celebrations In each of tho amusement places, and sovornl bands will play nt different parts of tho grounds. Tho dnnclng girls will bo out In full nrrny, and the guards and nttendonts will bo attired as cabal-leros cabal-leros nnd conqulstadores. At midnight tho real opening will tako place. Every light on the gro-inds will flash out at tho moment whon President Wilson pushes a koy, formally opening tho San Diego Exposition, Ex-position, nnd starting tho official colobrntlon of tho completion of the Panama Canal. There will bo a resounding res-ounding salute from the guns on tho Bhlps In tho harbor, a scream of whistles from every industrial plriht In San Diego, and tho general babel from tho city as tho Now Year comes In. Tho bands at tho oxposltlon will unite in tho nationlal anthem, and Immediately nftorward tho special fiesta und tho riot of music, danco and confetti throwing will be on. It Is unlikely that thoro will bo any limit to the celebration on Now Year's morning. Tho moro dignified proceedings of tho opening consequently conse-quently will not bo held until the mlddlo of tho day. Governor John-sen John-sen has accepted an Invitation to speak, and the leading officials of the oxposltlon will address the visitors. In tho different stato and county buildings therq will be formal exercises, exer-cises, with oratory nlnvinc a nromln- ent part. The Exposition is now a bright array of colors, furnished by the beautiful flowers of Southern California. Cali-fornia. All along tho Prado Is a display dis-play of red bougalnvllles, while the Plaza do Panama Is aglow with lovely purple bougalnvllles. The walls of tho old Mission buildings arc covered with 11 thick grouth of roses, clematis, nnd Jasmine, climbing up to tho towers tow-ers and belfrcys. In tho campaniles aro great flocks of pigeons, so tame that they fluttor down for food and alight on the shoulders of tho attend ants.
