Salt Laker Near r Completion of Navy Course ourse Eager to p Pay y Japs B Back ck for Midway Shelling H Having ving already had a taste of Jap Sap shelling at Midway island bland Rodney Taylor 23 23 enlisted In Inthe Inthe inthe 1 the navy and Tuesday was near to completing a course In radio technicians technician's training at the theN theNY N NY navy NYA-navy Y A training center Mr Taylor w was S a member of ot ofa ofa ota a construction crew on Midway island December 7 when the Japs first shelled the island At first I was just plain scared Mr Taylor said but after the first fright wore off I Iwa Iwas Iwas wa was Just angry angry Mr Taylor worked at Midway until about F February and then w went rit to Pearl H Harbor for other construction work After our work was finished and I came back to the states states- J l nOD RODNEY EY TAYLOR TAlLOR I Was Waa plenty plent scared J I decided that the best way to get back to the Pacific and pay tile the Taps Japs back was to join the navy he said Pointing out that the shelling of Midway w was s more annoying th than n harmful Mr T Taylor said that he was yas anxious to show the Japs laps that l he lie e could annoy them thema a little himself Enlisting in the navy at Salt alt Lake City in August Mr Taylor enrolled in the Uie N Y A school asa as asa asa a radio technician where he hei i learned operation and constructIon construction i tion of ot radio equipment A Ason son of ot Mr and Mrs J.
