J Grant Jeffers T elk Over Past Two timers old-timers in the railroad business got their heads together together to together to- to gether in Salt Lake City Saturday and had a little chat about conditions on the main line They were William M. M Jeffers president of the Union Pacific railroad and a railroader for 50 years and Heber J. J Grant 84 L D S church president and a member of the railroad company board of directors di for 20 years Mr Jeffers arrived in Salt Lake City City- Saturday City Saturday morning and will will attend a banquet in honor of President Grant at 7 p. p m. m in the Hotel Utah The affair is being sponsored by the Union Pac Pacific ic Old Timers' Timers club No 12 of Salt Lake City and President Grant will be presented with a gold life membership plaque I doff doH my hat to President Grant said Mr Jeffers He is isone isone isone one of those men who never has re received credit for all the work he and his church are doing Mr Jeffers reporting railroad business is excellent said our job is to keep ahead of it I When national defense work under way reaches a peak there I will be a t terrific ic demand for railroad railroad rail rail- road equipment Consequently we ve are now spending on a 11 rail laying program We also have under construction two new streamlined trains and expect expect expect ex ex- ex- ex them to be completed by July 1 raising the total now in service to nine J.
