U S. S forest service and the Utah State f Agricultural college extension service cooperate cooperate cooper cooper- I ate in the Christmas tree tag program They furnish tags to vendors of Christmas trees who have proof that their trees came from legitimate legitimate mate sources Tags for trees cut on national I forest orest land are furnished free Tags for trees cut on other property are furnished at 18 18 and 20 cents a hundred The tag program serves two purposes and these purposes are in YOUR interest as a resident resident resident resi resi- dent of this intermountain country First and foremost the program assures you that tagged trees have been een cut with due regard for the necessity of protecting valuable forest cover on our mountain slopes and in incur incur incur cur canyons Indiscriminate cutting of trees trees in this sparsely forested area is dangerous s. s It strips the cover from slopes and canyons thus increasing speed of water and snow runoff and soil erosion Second the program helps to prevent wasteful wasteful wasteful waste waste- ful cutting of more Christmas trees than are needed J.
