Pett, left this morning (Friday) for Santa Ana, Calif., to begin training as a U.S. army cadet. Mr. Pett is a graduate of Bingham high school and the past seven months has been employed em-ployed in the engineering corps at Hill field. Mrs. Wesley A. Behling of Kaysville and Mrs. France Christiansen of Las Vegas were out-of-town visitors last Friday at the home of their sister, Mrs. Ken Shulsen. Mathis LOCAL NOTES Major M. Smernoff, M.C., left Thursday morning to report for duty following a 10-day leave spent here with his family and visiting friends and relatives in Utah and Nevada. Major Smernoff Smer-noff recently completed a six-weeks' six-weeks' course in chest surgery at Mayo Brothers' clinic, Rochester, Roches-ter, Minn. He received his preliminary pre-liminary training at Camp At-terbury, At-terbury, Indiana.
