Show USES WILL PLACE RELEASED WORKERS Theodore R. Maughan, Utah Chief of Placement for the United Unit-ed States Employment Service, raid today that during the first nine months of 1943 local offices of the USES in Utah had placed 33,299 more people in jobs than during the corresponding period in 1942. From January 1 to October 1, 1943 a total of 121,433 jobs were filled in Utah. From January through September in 1942 jobs filled totaled 88,134. "Shifts in trends of war-productive activity are mirrored in placement reports from local offices," of-fices," said Mr. Maughan. "As emphasis shifts from construction construc-tion to production activity, corresponding cor-responding increases and decreases decreas-es in the placement loads of certain cer-tain offices may be noted." Mr. Maughan said that the USES offices in Provo, Price, Ogden, Salt Lake City and St. George all reported increased placements. Mr. Maughan stressed the fact that full utilization of the skill and time of every available worker becomes more imperative daily. He said that if every employee em-ployee to be released from Remington Rem-ington Arms goes into war essential es-sential jobs in this area, additional addition-al workers will still be needed. Mr. Maughan urged workers to stick to their jobs. "War plants cannot operate at capacity of production and efficiency unless its personnel is maintained at full war strength. Every worker who is absent without cause or who quits his job without justifiable justi-fiable reason slows down output," out-put," said Mr. Maughan. . .jr. I, r-"iTni - (--"ji-v- |
