Woolley Wooley who came to Utah in 1848 18 Sunday July 14 1850 S. S A. A went to meeting in the forenoon and in the afternoon he went vent to see some emigrants S S. S A. A went vent to Neffs Neff's mill took Bub with him I did some baking for Stanley Meacham an art emigrant he heis heis heis is going to the mines lath S. S A. A hired a man for 12 days they went to Cottonwood to thrash I had company to tea lea which was as Mr Miller and two Mrs Millers Mrs Van Colt Cott and Mrs Agatha Pratt Mrs Phoebe Pratt and Hannah Pratt and five children they all took supper with me Wednesday July 24 1850 Fair This morning we were awakened by the roar of the cannon it is a aday day of celebration and feasting It is three years today that the pioneers pioneers pio pie first came into the valley Therefore we celebrate this day unto the Lord It went off oU first rate some very good speeches made good music and all was good The dress of 24 young oung ladies was white dress blue sash and a pink and blue wreath of flowers on their heads The gents' gents dr dress s was white pants red sash suh blue coat and white hats with ribbon gr green n and the choir was wu pink and white both gents and ladies I 1 was not there herf in the afternoon for my teeth ached i went and got two te teeth th drawn then came home and got gol supper for eight men Oven Bound Jul July 25 5 1850 Had some men to breakfast S. S A. A sold his grass to toan toan toan an emigrant and I 1 got some coffee S. S A. A traded his oxen for horses and got four tour horses sold old one for 67 61 I did some baking and cooking for 18 men made mad a pot pie I did some baking for emigrants I have 85 pounds to bake The men came and got the bread that I baked for tor them paid me 5 for my ray work and wood August 2 1850 1850 Harvesting some sortie and we went l after a load of grass then went to a trial that Estel had with a aboy boy that lived with us a few weeks he was on his way to the mines and came with Estel l as tar far as this place an and h he did not use him well velI so o he left and wanted him or some more money the thc boy lost the trial and has to pay Estel 40 more more and paid him 55 5 before he started on the journey journe I 1 went to Mrs Tuttles Tuttle's for butter paid her 50 cents a pound for it Theft Charged to Indians Indian August 7 1850 1850 I 1 went to Bringhurst's S. S A. A came from his work we took tea it was dark when we got home there were two of ot S Sis Sis' s' s dresses and andone andone andone one of ot my aprons taken while we were absent I suppose the Indians had taken them S. S S A. A went out in town and traded a little got gota ot ota a blanket shirts and so forth Old Old Nanc Nancy here to supper and andone andone andone one emigrant S. S. S A. A helping E. E Ds D.'s boys harvest and I cut out two pairs of pants for S. S A. A and two aprons for tor Bub and some clothes for tor S Sis s went to Ensigns and made a cap can and cravat for a dead woman We We went to be baptized at 3 o'clock according to the order given by President Young Parley P. P Pratt did it and confirmed us according to order I 1 went home filled tilled with joy and gladness gladne s August 19 1850 S. 1850 S. S A. A made a hay rake sent his horse e to the herd S. S. S A. A and an emigrant are hauling wheat I got victuals for them and did some baking I 1 I made a cap for Mrs McCarthy McCarthy Mc tc Carth Carthy she is going to be married tomorrow we have an invite to the wedding Th The two Miss were here eating watermelons I Imade Imade Imade made a pair of shoes for tor Sis this evening I 1 I went to the store and bought Sis a dress September Septem Septem- ber 4 S. 4 S. S. S A A. at meeting all day Brother O. O Hyde Miller Brother P. P Pratt and wife wile Brother E. E Benson and wife Brother Curtis and wife wile Brother and son Sister Hooper and Sister Woolley we all allate allate allate ate dinner and watermelons then we all went to meeting in Brother Robinsons Robinson's carriage and I came home with Brother Pond 11 th- th Mr Woolley helped John W. W haul hay Mr Mr Woolley bought a yoke of oxen n paid 65 for them I I did some baking bakin for lor Frank he is going goin back to meet I sent Bent him potatoes and squash Mr Woolley and arid Haygood are hauling hay David Brintons came into the valle valley loda today I made some sauce out of melons etc Monday Monda September 23 1850 1850 Brother Whitney di died d this day and left lell his family to mourn his lo loss s may the blessings 0 of heaven rest upon them and comfort their hearts S. A cleaning wheat I 1 took some cucumbers to Ensigns for to take to Bensons l Mr Woolley WoolIe and nephew started today to meet their brother and father we understand they arc are about 60 miles back we hope they will soon be here October 2 1850 1850 Mr Woolley y came home last night at almost midnight and intends intends in intends in- in tends going back again and take some of ot the tamil family 3rd We 3rd-We We went to meet E. E D D. and met him the first evening after traveling about ourselves 20 miles we enjoyed first rate sate by a fire until 7 o'clock talking about old times etc Dinner for or Forty October 4 I E. 1850 D D. went to his camp and brought his train mountains and we over the two all took look breakfast with Brother Snows Snow's then went to the foot foot of the mountain and waited un until il they it was 4 o clock We Wethen Wethen Wethen came over then came two miles and camped for tor night near the Willow springs at the foot of or the last mountain Left Left the train and came over the mountain came about four then miles from the mountain stopped and expected the train tram to come there but buL they broke some wagons and had to camp about two miles back They sent word and we went back John W. W not well welI Sunday October 6 We 1850 started for the valley aliey We STe went ahead of the train tram until we came cameto to the mouth of ot the canyon there waited for the train Got home safe sate and well and prepared dinner for all hands which w was 41 per per- sons Mary Ensign and I Julia Juha and Sis and Mary Woolley we did the cooking and Sis Julia and myself cleared up the dishes Then ThenE E E. D. D had prayer and some singIng sing- sing Ing I 1 I picked some elder berries berries berries ber ber- ries and made 5 some me jam etc We went to E. E Ds Dos in the evening and got ot some tome things that Aunt Sarah Woolley sent three sent three dresses and a bonnet for me and a dress for Sis and some stuff sture for pants panL and cotton cloth and leather they divided ti the th-e things |
