Show ATHLETIC GOODS DRjVE BEGINS A district-wide drive for athletic ath-letic and recreational equipment equip-ment for men in training camps will commence locally on Monday, Mon-day, March 22, according to Dan Delaney, chairman of the junior chamber of commerce committee commit-tee in charge of the drive. Army camps all over the nation na-tion are in need of athletic equipment. equip-ment. The war department allows $100 per year per man for equipment. equip-ment. This amount will not take care of service men's needs. Another An-other development which has resulted in shortage of supplies is that when a unit goes overseas over-seas they take along most of their athletic equipment. For these reasons it is essential that continued drives be staged to assure useable equipment for fighting men. Boy Scouts in the Bingham district are cooperating with Jaycees in making this drive successful. Everyone is asked to look around their home and dig out useable athletic equipment and turn it over to the committee. commit-tee. Training camps are desirous of obtaining indoor games as well as outside equipment. The following places in the Bingham district will act as receiving re-ceiving centers: Lark, Boy Scout troop; Copperton, Cop-perton, Copperton Cash Market; Bingham, Standard Garage; Copperfield, Cop-perfield, Byrnes apartments; Highland Boy, Eli Tomas home. Anyone having needed equipment equip-ment which they are not able to deliver may call on a Boy Scout to take it to a collection point. After the voluntary drive is completed, Boy Scouts will make a house to house canvass to make certain that all available equipment equip-ment has been turned in. |
