Fred Dunn of Salt Lake City were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Adamek Sun- - d3Three young people completed their course in preparatory mem-bership of the Community Metho-dist church and were admitted into full membership May 10. They were Barbara Mills, Dixie Lou Harryman and Dan Prig-mor- e. A Bervice was held in con-nection with the regular 11 morning meeting. The Methodist Youth Fellow-ship of Tooele came to Bingham May 10 and gave a program for the Community Methodist church group. Refreshments were serv-ed. The evening of May 17 the Bingham Youth Fellowship re-turned the call and took a pro-gram to Tooele. Irene Anderson, vice president, was in charge. Maisie Lee of Escalante, Utah, is visiting her brother-in-la- w and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ivie Jr. Dr. and Airs. H. C. Jenkins were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott W. Evans Friday evening. Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Culver of Berkeley, Calif., were guests Sunday of Dr. and Mrs. H. C Jenkins. Mrs. Culver is remem-bered here as Lillian Hogan Jensen. Mrs. H. M. Stark of Wilming-ton, Dela., who is the former Miss Helen Candland, a speech and English teacher at Bingham high school for a number of years, ar-rived Tuesday evening to visit several days with Miss Margaret Ireland. Mrs. Stark was a lunch-eon guest of Mrs. David C, Lyon Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Potter and son, Francis Voulare, who have been at the Copper hotel the past month, left Wednesday to make their home at Elko, Nev. "Mr. and Mrs. Don Stuart and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Reeves, all of Fillmore, spent Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Aimer A. Berg and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Turner. Michael Ivie, four-year-o- ld son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ivie Jr., will celebrate his birthday this afternoon at a party to be given at 1:30 o'clock at the Ivie home. Invitations have been sent the following young friends of Mich-ael: Rex and Elva Kay Turner; Richard Booth, Vanda Adams, Corky Pollock, Kathy Zampos and Kay Lou Cook. Individual birthday cakes with candles and ice cream will be served. Vodusek served Mass at Highland Boy Sunday. A delicious luncheon was served the guests at noon Monday. In the evening Father Vodusek had devotions at the Holy Rosary Catholic church. Im-mediately afterward he and Tony Fabian left to return to San Fran-cisco. The Rev. Vodusek is a ne-phew of Mrs. Kascek. While here the visitors were also entertain-ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Stampfel. Jesse M. Southwell, A. C. Cole, J. H. Colyar, C. C. Colyar and Leland G. Burr ess represented the Tenth precinct at the Repub-lican county convention in Salt Lake City Saturday. Mr. South-well was elected treasurer of the county, organization. F. Henri Henroid of Salt Lake City was named county chairman; Fred Finlayson of Salt Lake City, sec-retary; Mrs. Henry Walker of South Salt Lake and Mrs. Albert L. Mike Gavich left Sunday for San Francisco to visit his son, Private Sam Gavich. ' Mrs. George . Smilanich has heard from her brother, Corporal Joe Loverich, who has arrived in Australia. He is well and safe and thinks the Australians are fine people. A social was held Tuesday night at the Highland Boy school. Dancing 'and refreshments were enjoyed by everybody. The class presented Miss Morinda Grange and Principal Andrew Jones gifts of appreciation for their work in teaching the Americani-zation classes. A miscellaneous shower was given for Virginia Xaiz of Mid-val- e at the home of Josephine Scorzato the evening of May 14. Present were Helen Camara, Manda Chanak, Mrs. George Ko-pes- ic Jr., Mrs, Louis Gobbis of West Jordan, Eugena Massa, Car-mel- ia Sponga, Mrs. Jimmy Byrn-es and Mrs. Scorzato. Miss Patty Barney of Bingham and Miss Roe Nella Fausett were visitors at the home of Barbara Gleaves Sunday. President Antoine R. Ivins of Salt Lake City, one of the seven residents of the Seventies of the EDS church, will be speaker at a Cotta?e meeting to be held at 8 p.m.' this evening (Friday) at Highland Boy school. Everyone interested is invited to attend. Mrs. Charles Brimhall will be hostess to the Relief society at 8 p.m. Monday. Miss Morinda Grange plans to leave Saturday to spend the sum-mer in Price with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grange. LECTURE 'TO BE GIVEN ON CHRISTIAN SCIENCE According to Clarence I. Wat-ers, Christian Science Committee on Publication for Utah, Mr. Adair Hickman, C.S.B., of New York, will lecture on Christian Science in First Church of Christ, Scientist, 352 East Third South Street, Salt Lake City, on Sun-day, May 24, at 4 o.'clock. the following topics will be discussed by the lecturer: "God as Principle; Righteous Prayer; Demonstration; Why the Church of Christ, Scientist was Organiz-ed and Founded; Miracles Ex-plained; A Promise Fulfilled; True Government; and True Ver-sus False Ego". Vera Ann Chadwick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Chad-wick, celebrated her seventh birthday May 14 at a party after school attended by herself and 10 playmates. |
