M I 1 of South Sixth Sixth East street street is I 1 i waiting expectantly antly for Sunday night His first play The Rainbow Rainbow Rainbow Rain Rain- bow Chasers will will make Its debut at the Wilkes theatre under the di direction dl- dl of Ralph Ralph- Cloninger and company compan I Ive see seen It rehearsed and rehearsed rehearsed rehearsed re- re I Sam said in speaking of 01 his first dramatic effort but there's theres the es e's something about bout the opening opening opening open- open ing performance ance that makes one tingle all aU over i It was only abo about t two o years ears ago that Sam breezed into The Telegram Telegram Telegram Tele Tele- gram editorial rooms fresh from Harvard Hanard law school He had had previously previously previously pre pre- attended the University of Utah and Leland Stanford Jr uni uni- Going to practice was the customary question I No o Sam alwa always rs replied Id I sooner write than delve dehe into law I And so Sam went to work on The Telegram He was only 6 a cub drawing 18 a week He loved to write Salary didn't mean I anything to him Between as assignments assignments assignments as- as he kept pounding awa away at the typewriter And as he dreamed dream d and pondered over Ideas the the idea for the Rainbow Chasers Chasers Chas Chas- ers emerged Into Into- definite form took wings under his careful nursing and came out a finished play A year before that at Harfard Harfard Har- Har fard lard he had written a short stor story and titled it The Thing Called Caned Love It was not accepted and came back Instead of giving up he revamped It sent it back under the title Burnt Bridges Again the stor story came back Then when he came home he decided to make a play out of it It and out came I Rainbow Chasers After profiting by constructive criticism he polished and fashioned fashio fashioned fash fash- io ed Its features A little over two months ago Ralph Cloninger read it if liked it decided that It was good enough for the stage Hence the realization of Sams Sam's dream dream dream-a a realization that may mean golden success or failure But Sam is hoping He is exp expectant c- c tant tanto He realizes the road to sue sue- Is not planted with roses The play will be he given at the Wilkes theatre all next week Arrangements Arrangements Arrangements Ar Ar- are being made to have it produced in New York after its local I t
