J MONTAGUE 5 ONE SIDE PLEASE When Carol learned to drive a c car cr carThe r S S The children far tar and near Left off ort their play and fled afar afarIn t In of ot fear fer Grim S swiftly pulled around S Their faces ashen gray gra As oer o'er the pavement Carol wound i I i Her zig-zag zig break neck wa way vay The dogs dogg along the country lanes Were ere wont t to yelp to yelp elp aghast And scatter for the open plains When hen Carols Carol's car came past S If It f they remained within a mile They knew they'd not survive And so theY theY-k pt aloof aloot the while whileS S That Carol learned to drive Now Carol smoothly bowls along With Pith calm and ana practiced ease Or moves amid a city throng As As' steady as a breeze And even I d do not demur j 5 As I was wes wont to do S When naked asked to take a ride with her Along the avenue II i S S B But Bit t Carols Carol's interest terest h has s fled led S In In driving as an art I She Views the airplanes overhead ad I S With yearning hi tn her heart i And soon the birds will leave for good The reaches of ot the sky I They'll seek the shelter of ot the wood S When Carol learns to fly
