F Kneipp district for district forester for for forester ester at Ogden who ascertained l that the fire is not in the reserve i but ut on the public lands to the north The matter was accordingly referred to Ralph S. S Kelley chief of the field fied service division here who has been di directing directing dl- dl the fire fighting in Idaho He has taken immediate steps to organize a party to go to Millard county in charge of a field agent of the division who will recruit most of his force after arrival at Scipio Reports of damage are meager but the country is heavily wooded and i it itIs itis Is believed that the toll in timber destroyed de is already heavy Should the fire get within the forest reserve it may get beyond all control and sweep the entire range Further reports from Idaho where three field agents sent out by Kelley and more than men are now working working work work- ing are that the situation th there re is very grave and that more than 1000 worth of timber has already been destroyed The situation threatens a repetition of the great fires through that section a few lew years ago which took many lives and destroyed millions in timber I |
