Show I b Jq r 4 r I I LARRY CHENEY BROOKLYN NATIONALS I 1 pitched my first curve ball in the National league during our last trip to Pittsburg I have never had a curve and ever every player and manager in the them m majors jors knows ws itI it I 1 have always depended on my fast one one m one one-ms my spatter and and Us using using my ng m my h lead head a 1 but I have lately been working with a curve and think I will fool a lot of the wise boys I took a chance in fn the fifth inning against Pittsburg when Bob Harmon I was up with two out and we were four runs to the good I offered Bob as nice a curve as you ever saw He came near mal making ing a hit off me but McCarty l I made a great play and retired him Ill I'll try the experiment again BUCK WHEAT BROOKLYN DODGERS I would warn the ball player and particularly the young boy to eliminate the use of bandages The second year I was in inthe the National league I injured both my ankles in sliding to first in a game in Philadelphia In a week I was able to play again with my ankles well b bandaged but they were not strong They f failed to gain strength as the season progressed and I feared that I might have to quit baseball as I could s see e that I was slowing down and had the greatest difficulty in stretching my drives Finally Finay I took a tip from Joe Tinker and removed the bandages In three days my ankles les regained their normal strength and in a week my speed was as great as ever |
