Show BOND CARAVAN VISiiyDISTRICT Doing their bit in the Sixth War Loan drive, a caravan of seven service men, a tank, machine ma-chine gun, scout car and a truck containing a display of military uniforms spent Wednesday in Bingham district. The caravan was in Copperton from 10:30 a. m. until afternoon, giving school students an opportunity to hear officers in charge explain displays dis-plays and see films shown at the special assembly. Members of the caravan lunched at the school cafeteria. All student purchasers of a war bond or $5.00 in stamps received re-ceived a ride in the scout car. At the assembly presentation of the "Schools at War Flag", given gi-ven by the treasury department, was made by W. Russell Anderson, Ander-son, Bingham district war bond chairman to Howard Hausknecht, high school bond sales chairman. The high school exceeded their quota of $15,000 which entitled them to a flag. At 1:30 p.m. the caravan rolled to a stop at Central school where youngsters were reported by Principal Harold W- Nielsen to have enjoyed it very much. The show was repeated later further up town. Members of the caravan enjoyed en-joyed dinner through courtesy of Utah Copper company. The show was repeated at Adderley and Nichols garage. Mrs. Alma Mantle served them coffee and cake later. Service men with the caravan included Captain Donald C. Todt, Cpl. J. H. Gunter, Cpl. George A. Pickar, Sgt. Edward G. Proctor. Proc-tor. S. Sgt. N. J. Forest, S. Sgt-F. Sgt-F. L. Batterson, Pfc. W. B. Fisher. Fish-er. S- Sgt. Batterson served in the European theatre and was held at a German prison camp 17 months before he escaped. " |
